Samsung has started rolling out the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update to some of its budget-friendly mobile devices.
Recently, the update was made available to its Galaxy Core Prime smartphone, according to Sam Mobile.
Users of the Galaxy Core Prime residing in Poland will receive the update first through Samsung Kies. Those living in other countries can expect to get the update for their devices within the next few weeks or months.
The 5.0.2 version of the Android Lollipop can be downloaded over the air. Galaxy Core Prime owners can check for the availability of the update manually by going to their devices' Settings Menu and clicking on About Phone. From there, they'll be able to see if the OS upgrade is ready for download from the Software Updates menu, NDTV reported.
Like the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on other devices, the upgrade for the Galaxy Core Prime comes with various features and improvements.
Although a changelog for the smartphone's update has not yet been released, users can expect performance and connectivity improvements, better battery life, smoother interface and various bug fixes after downloading and installing Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
The Galaxy Core Prime smartphone is one of Samsung's cheap mobile devices that first came out in November of last year, with a retail price of around $215.
The device comes with a 4.5-inch display with multi-touch features and a resolution of 480x800 pixels. It is powered by the 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 chipset from Qualcomm and has with 1GB of RAM. For its GPU, Samsung equipped the handset with the Adreno 306 graphics card.
The Galaxy Core Prime has an internal storage of 8GB, which can be pushed to 64GB with a microSD card. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash features and a 2-megapixel front shooter.
When the Galaxy Core Prime was first released in 2014, the out-of-the-box unit came with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS.
