Expected to make an appearance during the Mobile World Congress last week, the ZTE's Nubia Z9 was delayed by a couple of weeks, according to news reports.
In a report by Phone Arena, the upcoming Android flagship will have its official announcement on March 26.
While the announcement date is a bit late compared to other high-end Android devices, the Nubia Z9 is expected to provide a delightful match against this year's best smartphones.
In the report, the device will feature a 5.5-inch display with a QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution. Since its predecessor, the Nubia Z7 already had a QHD screen, it is just practical for ZTE to include the same technology to its latest flagship.
In addition to the huge and crisp screen, the ZTE Nubia Z9 is also expected to boast a Snapdragon 810 chipset from Qualcomm that can support 64-bit applications. These specs are similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6, which is currently considered as among the top Android phones today.
Some rumors are also pointing to a metal design, providing a more premium look and feel. The Chinese manufacturer has already released a teaser image of its upcoming event by the end of the month.
The teaser image shows the number '9' with different colors in a plain black background. While one can argue that it may simply be coincidence, the fact that the alleged prototype images show a resemblance between the Nubia Z9 and the current iPhones may be proof that the Chinese brand is indeed following Apple's footsteps.
Consumers in the United States and Europe waiting for this high-end device will have to wait for more updates as the report mentioned that ZTE will be launching the Nubia Z9 initially in China. There are no details yet when the Android-powered smartphone will arrive in international markets.
