Aside from smartphones, Samsung is reportedly preparing a new midrange tablet that it would launch at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Galaxy Tab A Plus has allegedly shed its specs even before its official announcement date on March 1.
According to a report by Phone Arena, the Android-powered slate has already been detailed a month before its launch. In the report, the device reportedly packs a 9.1-inch display with a 1020 x 768 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio.
The leak comes from SamMobile, a website that is already considered as one of the more trusted leakers of everything related to Samsung. In the report, the device will be Samsung's first ever non-Note device that will boast an S-Pen stylus.
While most devices with S-Pen are high-end, the Galaxy Tab A Plus is strictly within the midrange category. The device reportedly boasts a Snapdragon 410 SoC that is capable of supporting 64-bit applications, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a 7.4mm thin frame.
Other specs include a 5MP primary camera and a 2MP front shooter, and probably Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
In terms of battery, the Galaxy Tab A Plus is sure to bring delight to power users with its 6,000mAh battery. As far as connectivity is concerned, the Android slate reportedly comes with both an LTE and non-LTE variant.
In the report by Phone Arena, the Galaxy Tab A Plus will be accompanied by a lower-end device dubbed as the Galaxy Tab A. Aside from the 4,000mAh battery, absence of S-Pen, and 8-inch display, the Tab A specs are the same as the Tab A Plus. Considering that both slates are in the midrange category, the Galaxy Tab A and the Galaxy Tab A Plus could come at affordable rates.
Several weeks ago, a report claimed that Samsung has filed a patent for the branding names Galaxy Tab A, Tab E, and Tab J. Now that the Tab A slates have been detailed in a SamMobile leak, details for other remaining tablet groups may surface soon.
Samsung is definitely ready to beef up its lineup of smartphones and tablets en route its Unpacked event at the MWC in Barcelona. Last week, the Korean tech manufacturer has announced that its flagship device, the Galaxy S6 will be announced. The curved line in the invitation could also mean that the Galaxy S Edge would be announced in the same event as well.
