Aside from the highly anticipated Apple Watch and the surprisingly slim new Macbook, Apple's Spring Forward event also brought on the release of the iOS 8.2. The latest iOS update will reportedly incorporate features and fixes to numerous gadgets to greatly enhance Apple users' experience.
The iOS 8.2 update will be compatible with a wide range of devices, including the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 4s, fifth-generation iPod Touch, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, third-generation iPad and iPad 2.
Such upgrade has been deemed as a significant solution to the current security-related issues experienced by Apple users, such as the weak points found in iOS' CoreTelephony, iCloud Keychain, IOSurface, MobileStorageMounter, Secure Transport and Springboard.
One of the most prominent features of the iOS 8.2 is the Apple Watch App, which cannot be removed even if the Apple Watch will not be supporting certain Apple gadgets that can run on the iOS 8.2.
Nonetheless, Apple's latest iOS update is expected to enhance the performance of Mail, Music, VoiceOver and Maps' Flyover. The Cupertino company also claims that Made for iPhone Hearing Aids' connectivity will be improved.
Aside from addressing security issues, the iOS 8.2 will also get rid of several bugs. Apple promises that the new update will fix a Maps-related issue that prevents navigation to favorite locations. It will also address the issue with which the last words in a quick reply message are not subjected to auto-correct.
Moreover, the iOS 8.2 is expected to fix the issue in which duplicate content from iTunes puts off the completion of iCloud restore.
There have also been previous reports that, when running on the previous iOS version, syncing of music files from iTunes to Music is not completed while deleted audiobooks sometimes remain on an Apple device. As such, the iOS 8.2 update also aims to deal with these concerns.
In addition, users are expecting fixes for issues associated with Bluetooth calling, call audio from routing to car speakers as well as timezone adjustment in Calendar events, among others.
Interestingly, the Health platform will be improved as the iOS 8.2 rollout is expected to increase stability when handling a large amount of data. Users can now alter the unit of measurement for weight, height, distance, body temperature and blood glucose.
Fitness goals can be further achieved because the latest upgrade brings on the ability to integrate and visualize workout sessions from third-party applications. Users will now have an easier time in understanding units for vitamins and minerals as well as in adjusting graphs and values.
Finally, the iOS 8.2 update adds the setting that allows the toggling of monitoring one's distance, steps made and flights of stairs that have been climbed.
All in all, the iOS 8.2 will concentrate on key areas such as security, phone and messaging capabilities, and health and fitness components.
