After rumors went around that Apple is to release a 15-inch Macbook Pro and a 27-inch iMac, gossips were finally laid to rest as the company unveiled the latest updates to its flagship computers.
The Cupertino-based technology company released the much awaited upgrade to the 12-inch and 13-inch Macbooks on Tuesday, as well as the 27-inch 5K Retina display iMac.
The new 15" Macbook Pro features a Force Touch trackpad, which was also on the 13-inch model. Inside, the new Macbook boasts of an AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphics card and an improved battery life.
"Apple today updated the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display with the new Force Touch trackpad, faster flash storage, longer battery life and faster discrete graphics, delivering even more performance and capabilities to the MacBook Pro line. Apple also today introduced a new $1,999 configuration of the 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display featuring a breathtaking 14.7 million pixel display, quad-core processors and AMD graphics, and lowered the price of the top-end iMac with Retina 5K display to $2,299," the company announced on its official website.
The new 15-inch Macbook Pro's Force Touch technology makes it more interactive, according to Apple. It is equipped with a Taptic engine and force sensors, which allow the user to "click anywhere with a uniform feel and customize the amount of pressure needed to register each click."
It also supports "Force click." Third party developers can also incorporate the Force Touch feature in their apps through APIs. Its battery life lasts for up to nine hours, is 80 percent faster than its predecessor, and is also equipped with a flash storage that is up to 2.5 times faster.
Prior to the launch of Apple's new computers, websites 9to5 Mac and MacG have already leaked information on the new devices from reliable sources.
While many have speculated the 27-inch Retina iMac to be a lot more expensive, Apple surprises every one with a much affordable price tag. Priced at $1,999, the new iMac with 5K Retina is a keeper with a resolution of 5120 x 2880. To those who are not aware, top of the line display these days are just a mere 4K display.
Under the hood, the new iMac is powered by Intel Core i5 processor, which boasts of turbo boosts speeds of up to 3.7 GHz. It also features AMD Radeon R9 M290 graphics, which makes it perfect or watching movies or playing high resolution video games.
Many have speculated that Apple will try to catch everyone by surprise, which was a clever idea. "With supply of some Macs drying up, and Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference set to kick off on June 8, many observers assumed that the company would wait until the start of the conference to unveil new hardware," the Apple Insider reported.
