Amal Clooney might be heading for Hollywood sometime soon. According to sources, the barrister wife of actor George Clooney is eyed as a potential replacement for United States presidential hopeful Donald Trump in the hit reality TV series "The Apprentice." While no official confirmation has been released by the network regarding the matter, sources close to the decision making process reveal that Amal is a very strong contender for the role. As for the English barrister, the location of "The Apprentice" might serve as an attractive aspect of the offer - that is, in terms of providing her more opportunities to hang out with Hollywood star hubby Clooney while attending to her duties as a visiting professor at Columbia University.

The 37-year-old international lawyer is reportedly at the top of the "powerhouse" list of NBC, according to Express UK. Sources reveal that her stance in a number of widely publicized issues as well as her status in her field makes her a highly viable candidate and a "perfect fit" for the role. In addition, her marriage to one of the most prominent figures in tinsel town definitely does not hurt her chances of landing Trump's vacated seat.

"Basically we want Amal, although there are a couple of other prominent women in contention," a source revealed to Express. The insider added, "As well as the cachet of being married to George, she is also a highly-respected figure in her field and, since she rarely says anything in public, there is still something of an air of mystery to her."

Meanwhile, George Clooney is said to be quite supportive of the potential project. Although the two plan to have kids "sooner rather than later," the actor is reported to be "all for Amal pursuing her professional life any way she decides."

The issue of the search for Trump's replacement in "The Apprentice" came in the heels of the 2016 presidential hopeful's remarks disparaging Mexican immigrants. Upon announcing his candidacy earlier this year, Trump delivered a speech that proved to be incredibly damaging to his business ventures. His remarks left a number of business deals abandoned - with the partnerships involved in the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants pointed out as the most notable losses.

Following the withdrawal of a number of sponsors and companies from his brand, Trump was fired from "The Apprentice" due to the racist remarks. Hence, NBC is now hot on the trail looking for a replacement who can fill in such  large shoes.

Apart from Amal, other powerful women are considered for the job. The list also includes Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg and Honest Company owner and Hollywood actress Jessica Alba.
