Asus appears to have set its sights on Apple's MacBook Pro with the release of its latest flagship laptop, the ZenBook Pro UX501.
Based on its high-end features, it seems Asus is directly competing against Apple's premium laptop model with its newest product, TechSpot reported.
The ZenBook Pro UX501 is currently available in the U.S. with a retail price of $1,799. Like the latest MacBook Pro model, Asus' laptop sports a high-power setup.
It is equipped with the Intel Core i7-4720HQ processor and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M for its graphics card.
It has a 15.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Those who wish to purchase the ZenBook Pro UX501 have the option to choose from four storage options: the 1TB 5400RPM HDD, 128GB, 256 GB SATA III SSD or the 512GB PCIe x4 SSD, according to AnandTech.
The laptop is built with an HD 720p front camera and runs on the 64-bit Windows 8.1 operating system. Its battery, however, is not that powerful and can only provide around six hours of regular usage when fully charged.
The exterior design of the ZenBook Pro UX501 features an aluminum chassis and weighs around five pounds or 2.27 kilograms. It has a backlit keyboard and three ports for the USB 3.0 on its sides. In addition, the laptop has an SD card reader as well as ports for HDMI and Thunderbolt 2.0.
At 0.81-inches thick, the ZenBook Pro UX501 is a bit thicker than the MacBook Pro. But given the size of its screen and internal specs, Asus's flagship laptop can certainly rival Apple's device and can also be considered as a practical replacement for most desktop computers.
According to the company, the ZenBook Pro UX501 was designed specifically as a convenient but efficient workstation or for those who need laptops with powerful processing capabilities.
