With high expectations for the upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,' particularly with Ben Affleck's debut as Batman and the highly anticipated collision between the two superheroes, adding pressure to its premiere are the claims that the movie has become one of the most expensive films ever made.
The upcoming movie's budget has reportedly soared to a whopping $410 million, and is inching closer to the current record holder, "Pirates of the Caribbean,' which was completed with a budget of approximately $410.6 million.
As pointed out by Cinema Blend, one of the possible reasons behind the budget's inflation could be salary costs as the studio is expected to allocate funds to each of its actors; along with Affleck, "Dawn of Justice' also stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Ezra Miller as The Flash and Diane Lane as Martha Kent, among others.
Aside from this long list of actors, major elements including filming locations, extended photography and visual effects have been considered as well.
Meanwhile, when it comes to plot details, there have been no definitive twists that have been disclosed, although "Dawn of Justice' is expected to be darker in tone. Nonetheless, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Adams opened up about her character's lighter, more favorable interactions with Superman and Batman.
"I'm coming into a scene and Batman and Superman are both in the scene, so I can say that. And it was just fun," the actress revealed. "Because they had been working together for a couple weeks and just running it, seeing this dynamic. I'll talk about this when we're promoting the movie and we can tell more. But there were definitely funny moments involving bat-suits and such."
In addition, "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice' had reportedly taken inspiration from Frank Miller's series, "The Dark Knight Returns', in which the two superheroes were pitted against each other.
When asked whether it would be a reasonable fight for Batman, Affleck shared how his character has gone through more personal changes this time.
"He's on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it," the actor explained. "But this guy is further down the line and has become more embittered and cynical."
