With only a few months away from the premiere of "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,' its first official trailer has dropped several interesting yet intriguing details about its storyline- from the possible reason why Wonder Woman became involved in the superhero brawl to a younger Lex Luthor's possession of a kryptonite fragment.
Director Zack Snyder already confirmed that the city of Metropolis and Gotham City are "sister cities," which explains the ruined structures in a scene of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman battling it out, with Metropolis far off in the background.
The new trailer offers a glimpse at the Battle of Metropolis from Bruce Wayne's point of view as he wears his business suit while staying on the ground. In the clip, Wayne is talking to someone on the phone when heat vision from General Zod and Superman's Man of Steel brawl zip through the building.
After such Battle of Metropolis, newspaper's headlines show "Wayne Tower Destroyed," blaming him for being helpless in protecting innocent lives. Consequently, the Dark Knight blames Superman for such deaths, revealing the main reason why conflict came up between the two superheroes: "He has the power to wipe out the human race, and I must destroy him."
Interestingly, the Wayne Manor is also shown in the trailer despite crumbling into disrepair. Alfred takes a trip to the run-down mansion to plead with Wayne and talk some sense into stopping his crusade against Superman.
"You're going to go to war? He [Superman] is not our enemy," Alfred says to Wayne in disapproval.
However, the "Dawn of Justice' trailer does not go into detail as to why Diana Prince makes an appearance in the movie nor does it highlight plenty of Wonder Woman fight scenes.
Amidst all of the "Batman v Superman' fights, Warner Bros. did include a single quick shot of the female superhero slamming her wrist guards together and generating an enormous shockwave. Based on the source material, such bracelets can be used to disorient the Man of Steel during a brawl, hence the question whether Batman called on Wonder Woman to aid him in apprehending Superman.
In addition, the "Batman v Superman' trailer confirms that a younger Lex Luthor is in possession of kryptonite, although it remains unclear as to what Luthor knows about the fragment or how he plans of using it.
Luthor also sees himself as a protector, and not as a villain, as he supports the Senator in holding Superman accountable for destroying Metropolis. Previous reports also suggested that he could be offering Batman the alien mineral for his battle against Superman.
With numerous possibilities suggested by the film's first official trailer, more details are expected to be unraveled further on. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is set to hit theaters on Mar. 25, 2016.
