Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are set to celebrate Christmas together despite going through separation this year. As the former couple announced their split, the parents-of-three promised that they are committed to parenting their children together.
"Jen and Ben are figuring out right now how they can best spend the holidays together," a source told People. The insider also stated that Garner, "wants to get along with Ben for the kids' sake." The 43-year-old parents share three children- 9-year-old Violet, 6-year-old Seraphina and 3-year-old Samuel.
"We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time," Affleck and Garner said in their official statement.
Furthermore, the source noted that the duo will be spending time with both sides of the family. Neither parent wants to go his/her separate ways especially when the holidays call for family time and being with loved ones.
"Not a lot has changed since they split up as far as the kids are concerned," a source told E! Online. "They do a lot of stuff together, by choice. Even though just one of them could go and get the kids, they've been making an effort to both go together."
Affleck and Garner began dating in 2004 and became a married couple for 10 years before deciding to separate. Although their plans to end the marriage have been publicized, the former couple has not yet filed for divorce as they are reportedly mediating privately before pushing through with the necessary paperwork.
Less than a month after their split, Garner headed to Atlanta for the filming of her latest film, "Miracles From Heaven.'
The Christian drama film's trailer was released earlier this month and Garner stars as a mother of a little girl who undergoes a near-death experience and eventually experiences a miracle when she is cured of a digestive disorder.
"Miracles From Heaven' is set for an official premiere on Mar. 18, 2016.
As for Affleck, his next major onscreen appearance will be in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,' which is reportedly based on Frank Miller's series, "The Dark Knight Returns', in which the two superheroes were pitted against each other.
The award-winning actor previously opened up about how his character, Batman, has undergone more personal changes this time.
"He's on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it," Affleck explained. "But this guy is further down the line and has become more embittered and cynical."
"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice' makes its way to theaters on Mar. 25, 2016.
