There are six different definitions of love in the Greek language; eros, philia, ludus, agape, pragma, and philautia. Eros describes sexual passion, philia is between friends, ludus means playful love, agape is selfless love, pragma is long-standing love, philautia is the love of self. The type of love that God has towards people is agape. John 3:16 says that "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." This is the basis of Christianity; love.
