Superheroes inspire adoration from different kinds of people. Regardless of one's social status, gender, race, or religion, there will always be a certain superhero one looks up to and idolized. Unsurprisingly, however, a number of the fans of Daredevil are visually impaired, or blind. In an effort to cater to this following, Netflix recently announced that the TV series of the Marvel superhero will now be accessible to his blind followers, according to The Verge.

Tracy Wright, the director of content operations in Netflix, shared the news via a blog post on Tuesday. According to the announcement, the company will provide audio descriptions to narrate the events happening onscreen. With this new offer, blind fans and followers of the Daredevil TV series will be kept abreast of the happenings in the show.

"At Netflix, we work hard to continually improve the experience for our members when viewing movies and shows on our service, including providing accessibility across devices. Now we're expanding our accessibility options by adding audio description on select titles, beginning today with our new critically acclaimed series, Marvel's Daredevil," the company announced in an official statement published in their blog.

The post went on to describe that the narration track will include "physical actions, facial expressions, costumes, settings and scene changes." Moreover, the viewers will be granted the option to select the feature in the same manner as "choosing the soundtrack in a different language." Netflix also announced that the Daredevil series will not be the only TV show to receive this treatment. According to the post, the coming weeks will see the addition of more titles not only of current seasons of the TV shows but also the previous installments.

The shows that were specifically mentioned to be part of those scheduled for release with the same feature include "Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning political thriller House of Cards, Emmy award-winning comedy-drama series Orange is the New Black, as well as Tina Fey's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and the epic adventure series Marco Polo."

Wright further reiterated in the post, "Netflix is actively committed to increasing the number of audio-visual translations for movies and shows in our English-language catalogues." She also shared that the company is currently "exploring adding audio description into other languages in the future."

"Over time, we expect audio description to be available for major Netflix original series, as well as select other shows and movies," the executive disclosed. "We are working with studios and other content owners to increase the amount of audio description across a range of devices including smart TVs, tablets and smartphones," she added.
