A Boko Haram attack in northeastern Nigeria killed at least 14 people and injured several others on Christmas Day, according to reports. At least six people were abducted during the attack.
The militants rode into Kimba village in Borno state on bicycles and shot at civilians and burned down homes, witnesses told the AFP.
Umar Sani, a resident of the village, told the Daily Post that the militants came into the village chanting, "Allah Akbar!" meaning, "Allah is great!"
"They burnt down our houses, killed our brothers and abducted our children," Sani said. "We are close to Sabon Gari and there are military there at Sabon Gari but they could not come to our rescue. Many people have been wounded."
The remaining hundreds of residents in the village fled to the refugee camp in Biu, where many fleeing from Boko Haram have already been finding refuge.
Boko Haram has been carrying out terror attacks on Christmas Day for several years, including a bombing on St. Theresa Catholic Church in Madalla in 2011 that killed 37 people.
