Amir Khan is still aching to get a shot against Floyd Mayweather in his next fight, but the former world champion also has other possible opponents in mind.
Khan, who holds a 31-3 record with 19 knockout victories, has been chasing Mayweather over the past several years, but the reigning pound-for-pound king snubbed the Briton several times.
Instead of facing Khan in May last year, Mayweather opted to face Marcos Maidana, which led to a rematch in September. Khan was also in the running earlier this year, but the unbeaten world champion opted to face Manny Pacquiao in a record-setting showdown in May.
Khan said that he is still waiting for Mayweather to decide. And if Mayweather decides to face another fighter, Khan revealed he is interested in facing Manny Pacquiao, Timothy Bradley, Keith Thurman and Kell Brook.
The fight against Brook has been brewing over the past several months, but it should be noted that Khan sounded like he is not looking forward to the All-British showdown in the near future.
"I like the Manny Pacquiao fight and Brook is another name that could happen in the future, for sure," Khan said via World Boxing News. "Bradley is another, there are a few good fights out there, Thurman too. There is a few, but we are just waiting on what Floyd Mayweather wants to do."
Mayweather, who improved his record to 48-0 after scoring a unanimous decision win against Pacquiao, is planning to fight in September, but has yet to reveal his next opponent.
Karim Mayfield and Andre Berto were mentioned as possible opponents with the latter gaining more grounds over the past several days. Khan said he does not understand why Mayweather is considering both fighters because it will be a big letdown after facing Pacquiao, who was considered as his biggest rival before the fight happened.
"No disrespect to the other fighters, but why does he want to end his career on a low note after fighting Manny Pacquiao in such a big fight?" Khan wondered. "He made Pacquiao wait and wait for the fight, caught him at the right time when he just past his best."
Khan, who is coming off a unanimous decision win against Chris Algieri, feels Mayweather is avoiding him because the Grand Rapids native knows that he will be in deep trouble and could taste the first defeat of his career.
"He's very smart like that and probably thinks Amir Khan is at his best so I don't really need someone like him to give me those kind of problems," Khan added. "He knows I have the skills and talent to beat him to maybe that's why he doesn't want the fight."
