The widely anticipated matrimonial union between Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer was called off, according to E! Online. While the two will no longer push through with their wedding plans on Saturday, May 23, their close friends and families are still invited to the non-wedding event in the designated venue to celebrate "life, in general."
In a Facebook update posted by Sarah Palin herself, the ex-governor of Alaska informed the public of the change of plans regarding the scheduled celebration. "Bristol and Dakota couldn't be more thankful for the love and support of family and friends over the past months while preparing for their wedding," she began her message. "They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held," she announced.
Given that the event had been in the calendar books of everyone invited since the news of their then engagement was announced, the friends and family members of Bristol and Dakota are still encouraged to go to the venue to party. Sarah said, Many friends and family still look forward to getting together that day in Kentucky anyway - and the Palins and Meyers are happily looking forward to still being at "the old Kentucky home" on May 23 to celebrate life, in general!"
She went on to say, "Family members and close friends know they are welcome to share a great bar-b-que on the farm that day. All involved, especially Dakota, Bristol and Tripp, and their parents and grandparents, thank supporters for the love they've expressed."
Meanwhile, Sarah also took advantage of the same post to address the various speculations regarding the relationship of her daughter and the Medal of Honor awardee in relation to an alleged secret wife. Bristol's take on these "rumors that tabloids salivate over" tackled head on all the allegations.
"Regarding salacious headlines in recent days about "secret wives," Dakota and I discussed our past relationships prior to our engagement," Bristol said in the message included in her mom's post.
She clarified, "Dakota was legally divorced years ago, as any good reporter could and should have disclosed to readers." She then went on to slam the alleged irresponsible ways of the media in terms of providing details to the public regarding her life. Bristol asserted, "As usual, false stories and dramatically written headlines begging controversy should be disregarded, and we have faith that our privacy will be respected at this time by those with decency. Thank you!"
Earlier this month, Inquistr reported that Dakota allegedly hid an ex-wife from Bristol. Consequently, the said secret led to the breakdown of their relationship and the subsequent cancellation of the wedding. The report indicated that the Marine veteran was married in May 2008 to a woman named Cassandra Wain.
Apart from the caption, the picture accompanying the announcement had this message: "Trust in God's timing. It's better to wait a while and have things fall into place than to rush and have things fall apart."
