In one of the most exciting and gripping episodes of Castle this season, Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic proved to be worthy of their fans devotion and loyalty to the show that has been running for seven seasons now.
With serial killers on the loose and Katic's character, Kate Beckett, missing and possibly dead, it is no surprise that Fillion's Rick Castle goes on hyper alert and strives to leave no stone left unturned until his beloved is safely back in his arms, according to Cartermatt.com.
In the recent episode of Castle, titled Reckoning, the fans and followers of the series was served with an electrifying performance from the cast as the mystery of Beckett's safety seem to hang over everyone's head. With no lead as to who might have taken her, Castle and the NYPD blindly follow leads and suspects in a desperate attempt to not only save the detective but also, hopefully, finally close the case.
Jerry Tyson, otherwise known as 3XK, played by Michael Mosley, was one of the central evil characters in this episode. He is described as one of the most menacing serial killers ever faced by the team due to his calculating character. Needless to say, his intelligence and analytical skills made him a challenging criminal to catch.
Tyson reunites with another criminal, Dr. Kelly Nieman who is a plastic surgeon, played by Annie Wesching. Working together, the two embark on a life of crime by killing innocent victims. One of the challenges faced by the NYPD in catching them is the insistence of Tyson that he is Michael Boudreau, and his face was merely operated on by Dr. Nieman for him to look the way he currently does.
However, Castle appeared to have lost his patience dealing with double faced sociopaths and went directly to Tyson. Despite the latter's denial of his true identity, the mystery crime writer manhandles him and forces him to confess. This eventually caused problems legally, and Castle was locked up by the NYPD while Tyson was released due to the lack of ground to detain him.
Meanwhile, Beckett is seen on top of an operating table with Dr. Nieman looming over her as the latter tells her of her evil scheme. The surgeon shares her plan to steal Beckett's face to use as her own and to steal her identity. All these were seen by Castle, who eventually discovered the possible location of Beckett and her captor. However, Tyson was already a step ahead of him as he attacked Castle before the latter could even leave the room.
Held as hostage, Castle listened to Tyson as he described how predictable the writer was and how easy it was to manipulate the entire team. Unknown to the killer, Castle was wearing a wire and eventually gave the go signal to the person at the other end to shoot Tyson.
On her end, Beckett managed to free herself from the hold of Dr. Nieman's contraption. This resulted in a struggle, which ended the life of the surgeon. The NYPD eventually rushed in and saw that the detective already saved herself from an untimely and bloody end.
