CBS's Supergirl has leaked to torrent sites six months before its pilot episode has aired. The network has not made any comment on the leaked episode, which made many think that it was a marketing ploy. Even torrent news website Torrent Freak found the leak to be a "complete surprise."
If you are ready for some serious spoilers, then read on.
The pilot episode started with young Kara Danvers aka Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) being sent to Earth by her parents to protect her then infant cousin, Superman. But a weird twist of events (like getting sucked in a time warped place in space) made the superhero stay there for years. When she finally reached Earth, her cousin Superman, was all grown up and no longer needed her protection-- she also remained at 13 years old. She was then adopted by the Danvers, who also helped Clark Kent manage his powers when he arrived on Earth.
Fast forward to the future, Kara, just like her cousin, now works at a media company, headed by ill-tempered, smart, and sexy boss, Cat Grant, played by Calista Flockhart. Kara was no journalist, however. She is an assistant to media magnate Grant, who always ordered her to get her some coffee or a lettuce wrap. Grant was also the one who gave the female superhero the "Supergirl" moniker.
But unlike her cousin Kal-El, Kara revealed her superhero persona to a co-worker on the pilot episode. So I guess the coming episodes would be more about her adventures rather than actually hiding her identity. Also, Kara wanted to be recognized as a hero, and is pretty excited about not having to fetch someone else's coffee.
In some weird twist of events, Kara's sister (the Danvers' real daughter), Alex (Chyler Leigh) works for the DEO or Department of Extranormal Operations. The DEO is on the lookout for "immigrants" such as Kara and Kal-El, and is also trying to prevent any alien invasion.
In the pilot episode, Supergirl saves the day not once, but thrice. First was when the plane her sister was on was about to crash, second during a car chase, and third was in an armed robbery. But Kara's excitement got the best of her-the DEO was able to trap and catch her, and warned her of the bad guys who might be out to get her.
The last part of the episode was action-packed. This is where Kara learns to use her powers and defeats Fort Rozz escapee Vartox. And the main antagonist? No other than Kara's aunt.
Supergirl's pilot episode did not disappoint. It looks like CBS has gotten itself a game changer with the new show, and now we can't wait for episode 2!
