Good News Global Prison Ministry is engaged in hand-delivering “Hope Packs” filled with gospel messages to men and women incarcerated in 18 states across the United States and in 20 countries.

According to the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), each “Hope Pack” contains a personalized gift, a Christmas card, hygiene items, a 2025 calendar, and other assorted items.

To facilitate this effort, churches and jail administrators are partnering with Good News Global Prison Ministry to assemble and deliver 65,000 Hope Packs to 150 jails and prisons this year.

One notable participant in this initiative is the Daviess County Detention Center (DCDC) in Owensboro, Kentucky, where Chaplain Emil Herzog has organized the effort along with a team of volunteers.

Herzog has served as the chaplain at DCDC for 20 years, supporting the spiritual needs of approximately 600 inmates annually, according to WEHT, channel 25 in Indiana. This year marks the second time Herzog has collaborated with Good News Global.

Volunteers at DCDC assembled about 700 Hope Packs. Jailer Art Maglinger stated, “It’s about more than just the gifts — it’s showing them that they’re not forgotten. Their hard work behind the scenes made this possible.”

Willow Creek Community Church is another church that has partnered with Good News Global for the Hope Packs outreach, having been part of the initiative for over a decade. As noted by Crosswalk.com, the congregation has increased the number of bags they assemble each year and has taken on the challenge of preparing one bag for every inmate in their state.

Jon Evans, president of Good News Global, expressed the organization’s mission for this Christmas season: “This Christmas, we will put HOPE in the hands of 65,000 receptive inmates. We believe that everyone has inherent worth in the eyes of God, and providing Hope Packs is a practical and tangible way to demonstrate that to the inmates and the jail and prison staff members.”
