Veteran boxer Shane Mosley believes Miguel Cotto will win against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in their upcoming showdown on Nov. 21 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mosley, who recently scored a sixth-round knockout victory against Ricardo Mayorga in their rematch, believes the World Boxing Council middleweight title fight could go either way.
Mosley is familiar with both boxers, having faced Alvarez and Cotto before. The 43-year-old took a unanimous decision loss to Cotto in November 2007 and a lopsided decision defeat to Alvarez in May 2012.
When pressed to predict the outcome of the Cotto-Alvarez showdown, Mosley said that he has high respect for Canelo because they developed a good relationship over the past several years. However, he is convinced that Cotto is a slight favorite because of his experience in big-money bouts.
"I love Canelo, but on experience, you can't pay for experience," Mosley told Hustle Boss. "Cotto has the experience in his favor. It's like 51/49 Cotto. Very little edge."
On the other hand, former super lightweight and welterweight world champion Zab Judah thinks otherwise.
Judah also had an interview with Hustle Boss. The 37-year-old boxer knows Cotto is more experienced than Alvarez, but he thinks it could also work into Canelo's favor.
Judah believes that Canelo is much stronger that Cotto at this point of their respective careers because Alvarez is nine years younger than the reigning WBC middleweight champion.
"I think Cotto can come in with a good game plan. But Canelo's a bigger, stronger guy. A much younger guy," Judah said. "I don't know, but if I had to put my money on it, I'm leaning towards Canelo Alvarez."
However, Judah added that Alvarez cannot get too complacent. He is unsure of the gameplan of Cotto and Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, but he is convinced that the 34-year-old Puerto Rican will be 100 percent prepared against Alvarez in their Nov. 21 showdown.
"I know Miguel Cotto, himself as a fighter, he's going to come in there and be in great shape," Judah said. "He knows he has to be in great condition and he's going to come in there and fight."
Since hiring Roach following his unanimous decision loss to Austin Trout in December 2012, Cotto, who has a 40-4 record with 33 knockout wins, has racked up three consecutive victories -- against Delvin Rodriguez, Sergio Martinez and Daniel Geale, respectively.
