It seems like Pixar's Incredible 2 is taking forever to hit the big screen, and now news that director Brad Bird, who also worked on the original film, is just starting to write the story is going to test fans' patience just a little bit longer.
"I'm just starting to write it, so we'll see what happens," he told NPR.
Bird definitely has a lot on his plate this year, since he is currently working on Tomorrowland for Disney, which will star George Clooney and will be released this May.
Fans are clueless as to the animated film's timeline of production, but people have noticed that Pixar has reserved two release dates for two undetermined movies - November 22, 2017 and June 15, 2018. Many are hoping that the former has been chosen for The Incredibles 2 while the other could possibly be for Cars 3.
As for the cast and characters, the only ones guaranteed to make a comeback in the sequel are of course, the Parr family, also known as The Incredibles and their close friend Frozone, who was voiced by Samuel L. Jackson.
Bird has signified his intent to tell a story that will have the same amount of impact as the first film, which audiences totally loved.
A lot of people seem to think that he already has an outline for something special and is just waiting to put his genius ideas into paper.
Towards the end of the original film, the Parr family has come to terms with their superpowers, except for the youngest Parr kid Jack-Jack, who might possess untold and surprising powers. Fans are eager to see Jack-Jack grow up and showcase his numerous powers, which include super strength, laser vision, shape shifting, changing mass, phase through objects, and teleportation. What's more, the young kid has the ability to set himself up on fire.
His father Bob Parr, or Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) underwent a mid-life crisis before, but now that he is allowed to use his superpowers again, how is he handling it? His wife Helen, also known as Elastigirl (voiced by Holly Hunter) has always been more focused in raising her family, so getting everybody involved in fighting crimes might be too much for the doting mother.
Meanwhile, Dashiell Robert Parr, nicknamed Dash (voiced by Spencer Fox) has finally been allowed to use his super speed, and fans will finally see to what extent in the sequel. His sister, Violet Parr, voiced by Sarah Vowell underwent a transition in the first film too. She overcame her insecurities and even discovered new powers such as the ability to create force fields.
