Marvel recently revealed a new featurette about the highly anticipated Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans can catch a glimpse of Kevin Feige, Scott Derrickson and Stephen Broussard discussing the things to expect from the upcoming film, "Doctor Strange.'
In the 40-second clip, Marvel Studios president Feige explained that the team needed a "spectacular" actor to take on the role of Doctor Stephen Strange and shared how grateful they were when Benedict Cumberbatch decided to play the title character.
Derrickson, who is presently taking on directorial duties for the film, shared the same remarks with Feige, saying, "Benedict has got an incredibly complicated emotional structure going on."
As for executive producer Stephen Broussard, he revealed one of the things they aim to achieve in the making of the "Doctor Strange' film adaptation.
"[What is] important to us in telling this magical story is keeping it grounded but still leaving room to have really cool and unique visual ideas to explore," Broussard said.
Ultimately, Feige believes that translating such visual ideas to the cinematic universe is one of the primary goals of the upcoming movie. He previously revealed that he has often imagined "Doctor Strange' as a project that will open and build up the supernatural, shrouded-in-mystery side of the highly popular film franchise.
The featurette also unveiled the first "Doctor Strange' concept art featuring Cumberbatch as the title character.
Aside from the "Sherlock' actor, other cast members of "Doctor Strange' also include Tilda Swinton as Strange's mentor, the Ancient One; and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Strange's nemesis, Baron Mordo.
Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen Michael Stuhlbarg, Amy Landecker and Scott Adkins have also signed on to the cast, but details about their characters are kept undisclosed.
As for Mikkelsen, he recently revealed in an interview with Collider that he has yet to begin filming his first scene.
"I've only done rehearsals, so far," the "Hannibal' alum said. "One of these days, I'll have my first shooting day. But, it looks like it's off to a good start."
The 50-year-old actor also shared positive words about his co-stars when asked about the thing that appealed most to him.
"The cast is quite amazing. I can't wait to start working with these guys," Mikkelsen said.
According to IGN, some villains that Mikkelsen might possibly play include Dormammu, Blackout, Nightmare, D'Spayre and Mephisto.
"Doctor Strange' makes its way to cinemas on Nov. 4, 2016.
