Jessa Duggar-Seewald is giving thanks for the arrival of his baby Spurgeon just in time for Thanksgiving Day. In a sweet message posted on their website, The Seewald Family, the 23-year-old reality star and husband Ben expressed how grateful they are for having welcomed their first child earlier this month.
"This Thanksgiving, one of the things we are grateful for is our precious little son, Spurgeon Elliot," the couple shared in a post titled "Happy Thanksgiving,' through which they referred to the baby as "a Blessing from the Lord."
"This Thanksgiving we are so happy to be parents!" Jessa and Ben wrote, adding, "As we are embarking on this journey of parenthood, we appreciate all of your prayers. We pray that God would give us the wisdom to be good parents. From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!'"
The Christian couple welcomed baby Spurgeon, who goes by the nickname Quincy since his mother had been pregnant, on Nov. 5, after going through a two-day labor.
Meanwhile, only a couple more weeks to go before TLC's "Jill & Jessa: Counting On' begins, with the new series focusing on Jessa's experiences in marriage and motherhood as well as her sister Jill Duggar-Dillard's mission trip in Central America with husband Derick and seven-month-old son Israel.
"Jill & Jessa: Counting On' begins airing this December, and TLC confirmed that the new episodes will draw attention to Jessa's last months of pregnancy as well as "plenty of footage" focusing on baby Spurgeon. Fans can also look forward to clips of Jessa and her home birth, which resulted to an ambulance ride. She was bleeding heavily and needed a blood transfusion after being rushed to hospital.
Jessa and Ben did consider the possibility of having another blessing- a second baby- as they mentioned about adopting in the future.
"When I was in labor, I told Ben, 'Babe, we are not having any more kids after this,' " Jessa jokingly said. "I was teasing - we will have more kids. But in that moment of pain, I believed it!"
The new three-part special will also be recognized as a brief replacement for the Duggar family's own reality TV show, "19 Kids and Counting,' which was immediately cancelled by the network after older brother Josh Duggar's molestation scandal, involving younger sisters Jill and Jessa, was made public earlier this year.
"Jill & Jessa: Counting On' is set to premiere on Dec. 13 on TLC.
