AMC has unveiled its latest promo for the upcoming series "Fear the Walking Dead', featuring Frank Dillane's character Nick running away from an unseen force, which is most likely to be a zombie.
As a companion piece for the hit zombie apocalypse thriller "The Walking Dead,' the upcoming series will show the outbreak as it takes place but will be a separate story from the original program that highlighted the world in which Rick Grimes woke up after a long coma.
It has become a common question among fans whether the story that is followed in "Fear the Walking Dead' will explain the events that took place on the missing days of "The Walking Dead.'
Executive producer Robert Kirkman, who currently runs both shows, has confirmed that "Fear the Walking Dead' will offer details that will shed light on certain events in the original series.
"Everything that happens in "Fear The Walking Dead' is in the same universe as The Walking Dead," Kirkman shared. "So any rule that we find out and anything they see in the early days is definitely something that was happening in the past of the other show.'
Following a different storyline and having a major overhaul in characters and locations, "Fear the Walking Dead' is considered a parallel story as opposed to being a prequel for "The Walking Dead.'
"These two shows are very intertwined in the same world, even if their characters aren't necessarily going to interact because of geographical distances," Kirkman added. ""¦Anything that you learn from "Fear the Walking Dead' will apply to the mythology of "The Walking Dead' and vice versa."
Apart from the invasion of zombies, "Fear the Walking Dead' is expected to draw attention to much more personal issues, including family ties, as the drama is expected to strongly push the series forward into more seasons.
"What's intriguing to me is to take these problems, which I think would make for a compelling drama, and put them in this much larger canvas and see how they play out," showrunner David Erickson explained.
With the series set in Los Angeles, cast members who have been confirmed for the upcoming program include Kim Dickens ("Sons of Anarchy', "Gone Girl'); Frank Dillane ("Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'); Cliff Cutis ("Missing'); Alycia Debnam-Carey ("Into the Storm'); Mercedes Mason ("Quarantine 2: Terminal') and Elizabeth Rodriguez ("Orange is the New Black").
