Samsung has unveiled a new firmware update for its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge line of devices.
The latest update brings several improvements to the smartphones' user interface, according to NDTV.
Some of the updates' features include an improved fingerprint recognition system as well as additional support for the compatibility of accessories. In addition the update also enhanced the devices' interface for the Email, S planner, apps, music and photo editing settings.
Although the upgrade comes with improvements, it is not yet confirmed if the firmware update comes with a fix for an issue concerning the device's flash which causes it to always turn on.
Samsung noted some devices might become unresponsive after installing the firmware update. To solve this issue, users should press the volume and power keys at the same time for over seven seconds to restart the device.
The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, Samsung's latest flagship smartphones, were unveiled last month and feature similar specs.
Both devices have 5.10-inch screens with 1440x2560 pixel resolution. The smartphones are powered by 1.5 GHz processors and have 3 GB of RAM. The two have 16-megapixel rear cameras as well 5-megapixel front cameras.
The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop and both have 32 GB of storage.
Shortly after the release of the smarthones, U.S. carrier Verizon unveiled a loyalty program for its consumers, Sam Mobile reported. According to the company, loyal customers can get the chance to receive a brand new Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge by simply trading in their smartphones.
However, as part of the program's mechanics, Verizon will choose which lucky customers will be eligible to get the new smartphones. The company also noted that the program is a limited time offer.
Aside from a new smartphone, the recipients will also receive a Verizon Edge plan. However, it is unclear if this refers to the Regular Edge or the Early Edge plan.
