Manny Pacquiao is aching to avenge his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. but the retired boxing superstar insisted that he is not planning to come out of retirement and face the Filipino boxing icon again.
Mayweather, who owns a perfect 49-0 record in his illustrious boxing career, told Fighthype that he sees no reason to face Pacquiao again, insisting that he does not want to hear rumors about the rematch anymore.
"I don't want to hear this anymore, Floyd Mayweather-Pacquiao," Mayweather stressed. "That's over with. That chapter is over with. That's totally over with. I don't want to hear nothing else about Mayweather-Pacquiao."
The former pound-for-pound king reiterated that he has nothing to prove after running away with a convincing victory during their record-setting showdown in May last year. Mayweather cruised to a unanimous decision win, and the Grand Rapids native felt he clearly dominated his rival.
"That's not going to ever happen again," Mayweather said of the rematch. "That will never happen again. Never. Out of 12 rounds and I win 10 out of 12 rounds, why should I have to prove myself? Blowout."
Rumors about the rematch intensified anew after Floyd Mayweather Sr. said in a recent interview that Pacquiao might get another shot at his son if the former world champion wins in his next fight. Pacquiao, a former eight-division champion, is set to face Timothy Bradley for the third time on April 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"That's a real simple fight for Floyd. It's been a long time coming and it came, and when it came, Pacquiao got it. And guess what? Pacquiao can get it again," Mayweather Sr. said via Sports World News.
Mayweather Sr. also said that his son could still come out of retirement and chase the 50th win of his career, mentioning the possibility of facing reigning World Boxing Council welterweight champion Danny Garcia. However, the younger Mayweather said that his father is just expressing his opinion.
"They said that my father said something about that. It doesn't matter what my father says," Mayweather Jr. said. "My father can only express his opinion on what he feels, but I'm letting everyone know as of right now, I'm not interested in fighting anyone."
Mayweather announced his retirement after scoring a unanimous decision win against Andre Berto in September last year -- just five months after defeating Pacquiao in their multi-million super fight.
