Only devoted fans of the "Game of Thrones" series probably know about Brian Fortune, who portrays Othell Yarwyck, one of the keepers at Castle Black.

He was one of the men who stabbed Kit Harrington's character Jon Snow during the season 5 finale, and he is now sharing the experience with News Talk.

When asked how it felt to kill off one of the biggest stars of the show, Fortune answered, "Pretty good actually! It's not every day you're shooting a historic scene in probably the biggest TV show ever, and of course the reaction to Jon Snow's death was phenomenal!"

On the flip side, however, Fortune said that there are some people who mix fiction with reality and punish him and other cast members for what they did on the show, although thankfully there aren't too many of them.

"Yes, it's awful, some fans or just regular viewers of the show can go to such extremes. It's a TV show, guys, a million miles away from reality!" he laughingly reminded fans. "When the scene was fresh in peoples minds a couple of guys gave me a bit of a hard time verbally and I was called a (expletive) among other things by some ladies. Pretty tame stuff."

Despite this negative reaction, Fortune feels thankful to be a part of the show. He particularly enjoys shooting the Mess Hall meeting scenes, and he is hard pressed to pick just one favorite scene.

Fortune loves the scenes where they were arguing with Jon Snow about allowing the Wildlings to seek refuge at Castle Black, as well as the election of Jon Snow as the new Lord Commander, and the beheading of Janos Slynt. "I couldn't really pick one scene," he said.

There has been several spoilers swirling around that Snow is still alive despite the betrayal of his brothers from the Night's Watch, and Fortune said that Snow's appearance in season 6 is news to him as well.

He and most "Game of Thrones" cast haven't read the books written by George R.R. Martin, so they do not have an inkling what will happen to their characters.

Fortune also understands that the show is cloaked in secrecy, and after they filmed Snow's death scene, Fortune said that keeping it a secret from everyone was one of the hardest things he ever had to do.

"Trying to keep that a secret was a bit like keeping secret that I really did murder somebody! I cracked and told my wife Polly... and that was the worst thing I could have possibly done because I was afraid she might let it slip... It was an absolute nightmare waiting for the episode to be screened," he said.
