Moving on to its fifth season, HBO fantasy drama series "Game of Thrones' is ready to unleash Daenerys Targaryen's dragons, an army of White Walkers, and Oberyn Martell's bastard daughters who are furious over the death of their father.
Known as the South's Sand Snakes, these ladies will make a frequent appearance in the fifth season of "Game of Thrones', particularly the three eldest sisters; these are Nymeria (Jessica Henwick), Obara (Keisha Castle-Hughes) and Tyene (Rosabell Laurenti-Sellers).
In a new "Game of Thrones' featurette, the clip shows the weapons of Dorne that the three sisters will be using to arm themselves against their enemies. Weapons master Tommy Dunne explains the details about these objects that will be brandished by the Sand Snakes in season five. Even the famous longaxe of Areo Hotah, right-hand man of Prince Doran Martell, is highlighted in the video.
Dunne sheds light on the "opulence' of the longaxe and its use of diamonds and filigree. Snakes are a distinct feature of the axe and all the other Dornish weapons that are explained in the featurette.
Obara brings with her a long spear that is a bit different than that of her father in his final battle last season.
Having a snake design in its handle, a powerful whip is carried by Nymeria with the whip itself coming out from the snake's mouth.
Tyene's double daggers have handles made from two intertwined snakes, giving the impression that four snakes will be fighting for her during a battle.
The release of the first few images of the Red Viper's daughters generated a loud buzz among fans when they noticed the use of a "nipple armor', which "Game of Thrones' costume designer Michele Clapton claimed as an unintentional move.
In an interview with New York Magazine last year, Clapton noted that the resulting costume had actually been a mistake due to hurried production and limited time in allowing the armor molds to be completely sanded down.
"I didn't notice them when I was there. And sometimes you can't go back and change things"¦ It was a bad move," Clapton said, though she mentioned that the armor's disconcerting shape is less visible in other settings depending on the lighting.
Another special footage following the filming and production of "Game of Thrones' season five showed that the cast and crew simultaneously filmed scenes in three different countries, including Croatia, Ireland and Spain. The 26-minute special documented the phases that the team had to go through in coming up with impressive scenes for season five.
For its latest season, "Game of Thrones' returns on April 12, 2015 on HBO.
