Georgia Baptist declared that they are officially supporting the state's decision to legalize the possession of personal fire arms within public places including restaurants, parks, bars, and even churches. Every time a shooting occurs, there have been frequent debates about this issue despite great opposition.
Mike Griffin from Liberty Baptist Church and spokesperson for Georgia Baptist explained that the issue of carrying personal weaponry is a matter of basic human rights. He brought up that all men should have to protect themselves, for without life, there can be no true liberty, and without freedom there can be no rights. He also added that he is representing the opinions of 1.3 million Christians from over 3000 churches.
If a new regulation is passed, then anyone would be authorized to carry fire arms into public areas including churches. There is a great deal of anticipation that the amendment will come to pass due to the active support of the Baptist Church. However, there is yet a great deal of opposition from the African American Community and some experts are expecting this debate to be followed by a racial clash.
