Since news broke that Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are shooting the remake in the area, residents have been straining to get a glimpse of the stars of the highly anticipated all-female reboot of "Ghostbusters." In an effort to catch the actresses' attention, some very creative patients posted a message that read, "Who ya gonna call?" in their hospital window. Caught unaware that the stars actually took notice of their post, everyone at the center was surprised when the "Ghostbusters" showed up in their doorstep - complete with costumes, gadgets and bags.
In a snap, Tufts Medical Center appeared to be one the new resting places of the extremely busy "Ghostbusters" stars. Despite their tight workload and strenuous hours, McCarthy, Wiig, McKinnon and Jones had been all smiles while chatting up the patients and staff as well as visiting those who could not get off their own beds. The surprise drop in unsurprisingly brought tears to the eyes of the patients' loved ones as the presence of the "Ghostbusters" reboot actresses in the hospital truly brightened their weekend, according to E Online.
The same sentiment was shared by the hospital's staff through their official Facebook page. They wrote, "Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center patients got a huge surprise today when Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones came to visit!" The hospital staff went on to say, "Thank you for taking the time out of filming today to put a big smile on our patients faces! ?#"ŽWhoYouGonnaCall ?#"ŽGhostbusters" Apart from the message, Tufts Medical Center also posted pictures of delighted patients and their fascinated loved ones as everyone joined in the fun - with the "Ghostbusters" even going as far as handing over their "weapons" during the photo ops.
While the surprise cheered up the people at Tufts Medical Center, a number of social media users expressed criticism on the move. According to Sydney Morning Herald, some netizens feel that the "Ghostbusters" only visited the hospital in an effort to contribute to the hype linked to the film's upcoming premiere night. These sentiments were expressed in the Facebook page of Tufts Medical Center, with some users pointing out that the visit had been nothing more than cheap PR stunt on the part of the stars.
These insults, however, were slammed by one of the mothers of the patients who was present during the "Ghostbusters" visit. "The visit from these ladies was an uplifting treat," the mother wrote. She added, "It also wasn't just a promo photo op. They asked about [her child] and chatted with us. No matter how you feel about the movie remake, you should do well to remember that this visit meant a lot to the people receiving it."
