After attaining considerable popularity and making a huge name for herself, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen will be retiring from the catwalk to spend more time with football star husband Tom Brady and their children.
"Gisele will focus on special projects and also spending more time on her number one priority: her family," her sister and representative Patricia Bündchen explained in an official statement.
Recognized as the world's highest-paid model, Bündchen will strut her stuff on the runway for one last time in Sao Paulo next month.
"She is already cutting back on catwalk appearances and will bid adieu to shows in her own country during the Colcci brand presentation at Sao Paulo Fashion Week," Patricia further shared.
As such, after working for numerous top labels in the fashion industry, the 34-year-old model will be taking a step back from the limelight to focus more on her family as well as on other special projects.
In a message posted by the supermodel on her official Facebook page, Bundchen thanked her fans for the support and encouragement.
"Thank you for all the love. A kiss in your heart and have a beautiful day!!!!" she wrote.
Rumors about the model's future had been widespread following media reports stating that she would be having her final appearance on the runway at the Sao Paulo Fashion Week on April 13 to 17.
"Gisele appeared at the first edition of SPFW 20 years ago and it is an honor for us that she has chosen the same event to call it a day," event director Paulo Borges shared to Agence France-Presse. "We are also very happy to see a Brazilian professional come such a long way with an extensive and respected career."
With a total of $47 million worth of earnings in 2014, Bündchen has become the highest-earning model in the world for the past eight years, as stated by Forbes. Now, the supermodel is expected to place more emphasis on print ad campaigns.
Such decision is likely to bring on numerous opportunities for her as the supermodel previously worked with brands such as Chanel, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Alexander Wang and Balenciaga.
