Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry mocked their critics as he issues a sarcastic apology for enjoying a success title run last season.
Some analysts were not too impressed with the Warriors' title run last season because they faced teams who played without their key players -- like Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who they defeated in the 2015 NBA Finals in six games.
Responding to their critics, Curry, the 2015 NBA Most Valuable Player, uttered sarcastic remarks.
"I apologize for us being healthy," Curry said in jest via ESPN. "I apologize for us playing who was in front of us. I apologize for all the accolades we received as a team and individually. I'm very, truly sorry, and we'll rectify that situation this year."
Curry's remarks stemmed from Doc Rivers' statement earlier this month. The Los Angeles Clippers coach said that the Warriors were lucky because they did not face the Clippers or the San Antonio Spurs en route to their series against the injury-riddled Cavaliers.
Warriors superstar shooting guard Klay Thompson fired back earlier this week, saying that they actually wanted to play the Clippers, but they failed to "handle their business" against the Houston Rockets during their second-round showdown.
The Clippers held a 3-1 series lead, but the Rockets swept the last three to advance to the conference finals against the Warriors, who eventually defeated Houston in five games.
"Didn't they lose to the Rockets?" said Thompson, who also reminded Rivers that the Warriors won their season series, 3-1. "So that just makes me laugh. That's funny. Weren't they up 3-1, too? Tell them I said that, too. I wanted to play the Clippers last year, but they couldn't handle their business."
Warriors forward Draymond Green also responded to Rivers' statement. The versatile forward said that teams who are questioning their title run are bitter and they are the teams who are not among the respected organizations in the league like the Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder.
"If they saying that, they aren't the champs, it's simple," Green said. "Gregg Popovich didn't say that. That's one organization I really respect. And you haven't heard anybody in their camp say that. You ain't heard anybody from OKC say that, some of the organizations that I really respect."
