Not only are the fans of "Guardians of the Galaxy" excited for its sequel entitled "Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2," but even its cast members are pretty pumped up to start working on it.
Karen Gillan, who played the villain Nebula in the original film said that when she finally received the script for the sequel, she could not contain her delight.
"I took it in my hands - because they don't send it over email; they deliver it by hand - and it was so cool. I was so excited, and I ran upstairs, and I put on the soundtrack, the Awesome Mixtape 2, and then got into it. It's so good," she shared with Comic Book Resources.
Even though everything is under tight wraps as of the moment, Gillan said that her character will explore the relationship (or lack of it) that she shares with Zoe Saldana's character Gamora.
"I think what I'm really excited about it delving into the sisterly relationship between Gamora and Nebula. I think that we're going to see a little bit more of that, and it's going to be a bit more fleshed out," she said.
A lot of people did not expect "Guardians of the Galaxy" to be the hit that it was, including director James Gunn himself. But everybody involved in the film was pleased with the positive results of the film nonetheless.
However, Gillan did not share the same perspective. After seeing the finished product of the first film, she was so impressed with what she saw that she was certain they would be doing a sequel.
"I kind of - I was mentally prepared to go through it again. It's so cool," she gushed. "The finished product is so cool that it's just so worth it when I see it at the end."
If she had to pick just one word to describe what it feels like to work in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise, Gillan said that it would have to be "infectious."
"James Gunn is the most enthusiastic. He's on this natural high the whole time. And it just makes us so excited about it," she explained. "He just knows the world inside out. He is so passionate about it. The whole thing has come from him. It's totally his vision. It hasn't been compromised at all. It's completely down to him. So that's the most exciting thing."
