Not long after news broke out the hot Hollywood couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are getting a divorce, news followed that singers Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have decided to end their marriage and will be getting a divorce as well.
The couple has been together for nearly 13 years, and despite the end of their marriage, they remain committed to raising their family side by side.
"While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment," the couple said in a joint statement. "To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time."
Stefani filed for divorce Monday, according to Entertainment Weekly, citing irreconcilable differences. They both agreed to have joint custody of their children - nine-year-old Kingston, six-year-old Zuma, and one-year-old Apollo.
They met back in 1996 when Stefani was still the frontwoman for the band No Doubt, while Rossdale was the frontman of Bush. They got married in September 2002 and has often been regarded as one of the happiest and most loving couples in Hollywood.
Stefani seems to be wrapped up in work while dealing with her divorce. She recently teamed up with rapper Eminem for the song "Kings Never Die," which is the soundtrack for the boxing drama "Southpaw," which starred Jake Gyllenhaal.
She revealed that she has always wanted to work with Eminem, so when she was approached by one of Eminem's coordinators during a Harajuku Lovers Tea Party in Los Angeles, asking if she would be willing to work on a song, Stefani jumped at the chance and said yes. "I've always wanted to work with him - he's a genius," she shared.
However, she was sick the day they wanted her to work on the song, but Stefani soldiered on and she was glad she did. "All of a sudden they called me and said, 'It has to be done today' and I was like, 'Ah, my voice' - I had a cough or something," she recalled. "I went in and I made it happen, but it was like, barely."
"It was like, 'God, why does today have to be the day my voice is not happening?' But it ended up turning out good," Stefani added. "I wanted to do something with him for so long and I feel honored - he's very selective. I feel really honored."
