The original Green Lantern film was such a huge disappointment that a lot of people wished to redeem it, and Tyrese Gibson is one of them.
The actor earlier expressed his desire to portray John Stewart, also known as The Green Lantern, in the next remake by the DC Cinematic Universe, and iit seems he is getting his wish this time.
Gibson shared on his personal Instagram account a photo of himself in a Green Lantern costume and wrote, "The Oath - See you soon........."
His post was already taken down for reasons unknown, said Cinema Blend, but that did not stop fans from speculating whether or not the actor has been green lighted for the film.
Green Lantern will grace the big screen on 2020, and even though it will take years before production will even begin, people cannot help but discuss the possible direction of the new film.
At first, people thought that there will be a female Green Lantern, and Fast and Furious actress Michelle Rodriguez has been attached to the role of Hispanic Jessica Cruz. However, the actress adamantly refused to take part in the superhero movie, even going as far as calling it "stupid."
"That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. I think it's so stupid because of this whole minorities in Hollywood thing. It's so stupid. Stop stealing all the white people's superheroes. Make up your own. What's up with that?" she said.
Her comments have received some backlash, and the actress later apologized for coming off as "rude or stupid" and explained that she only wanted each culture to have its time in the spotlight.
After Rodriguez, the attention then turned to Into the Woods actor, Chris Pine, who reportedly will breathe life back into the Hal Jordan version of the Green Lantern which was first played by Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds.
The news was shared by Latino Review's Umberto Gonzales who posted the information on his Instagram page. He did say that it was only "a rumor hence unconfirmed" and that the search is still ongoing, but Pine's name has been "floating around" more prominently than the others.
The Green Lantern is an important role in the DC Cinematic Universe since he (or she!) is part of the seven members of the Justice League. So far, only Henry Cavill's Superman, Ben Affleck's Batman, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller's Flash, Jason Momoa's Aquaman, and Ray Fisher's Cyborg have been confirmed.
