Hillsong Church will now take the gospel to the all corners of the world with its 24/7 TV channel, which will feature worship music and Bible teachings from guests such as T.D. Jakes, Joseph Prince, John Maxwell, Joel Osteen, and Hillsong senior pastors Brian and Bobbie Houston.
The channel is a collaboration between Hillsong Church and Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), and aims to "reach and influence the world by building a large Christ-centered, Bible-based television channel that changes mindsets and empowers people to lead and impact in every sphere of life," according to the mission statement of the channel.
Houston writes on Hillsong blog about his vision of the channel which is, "one that leads the industry in revolutionary communication of an ancient message through media, film and technology. A channel with a message beamed to people around the globe through their television screens, bringing JESUS into homes, palaces and prisons alike. A channel that is constantly looking towards the future - filled with a vision that inspires and influences many."
Worship music played on the channel will include songs from Hillsong bands, Joel Houston, Reuben Morgan, among many others.
Hillsong Church began in 1983 with a small congregation in Sydney, Australia, and has grown to include 15 campuses worldwide with a combined weekly attendance of around 100,000 in cities including Cape Town, Stockholm, Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, and Buenos Aires.
Hillong has released 47 worship albums thus far, and the channel is expected to be viewed in over 160 million households worldwide.
"I see a channel that champions local churches everywhere; that isn't a substitute for Sunday services or the gathering of the saints, but resources pastors and parishioners alike every day of the week. A channel that brings the local church into the homes of those who have not yet 'come Home,'" Houston continues.
Over 80 satellite channels carrying about 30 TBN international networks are viewed in homes around the world every day, and millions of others sing praises by Hillsong in their churches.
"Every Sunday at least fifty million Christians sing Hillsong worship songs in churches across the earth," said TBN Chairman Matthew Crouch.
"Beginning June 1st, nearly a dozen of those satellite channels will be devoted to the newest member of the TBN family - Hillsong Channel," he added. "That's how important we feel it is to get the life-changing ministry and worship of Hillsong to every corner of the earth."
