Several weeks before the Mobile World Congress, more rumors and details surface about HTC's upcoming One M9 flagship.
According to a specs lineup in a report by Phone Arena, the high-end Android device will boast some surprising specs, which are contrary to previous rumored features of the device.
In the report, the device will allegedly feature a 5-inch display with a Quad HD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution screen. Just a few weeks ago, several reports from tech websites claimed that the HTC One M9 will stick to Full HD (1920 x 1080).
Meanwhile, the device is rumored to get a 16MP or 20MP primary camera at the back, which would be the highest sensor the Taiwanese brand has ever included in a smartphone. Based on a leaked image of the One M9 covered by a Dot View case, the rear shooter will be more square-ish than circle.
The Phone Arena report also claimed that the device will boast a 4MP or 5MP front camera, and probably with UltraPixel technology. The feature arriving at HTC's latest flagship will not be a surprise as the technology has already been applied in previous smartphone releases from the Taiwanese manufacturer.
In terms of aesthetics, the report mentioned that the HTC One M9 could sport the same aluminum build, which has been a staple in its recent flagships. However, the bezels will reportedly be thinner than usual, making the device more compact in spite keeping the 5-inch screen.
The device will reportedly boast dual speakers with Dolby Audio technology, as well as fingerprint scanner. As far as processing specs are concerned, the report pointed out a Snapdragon 810 chipset which is Qualcomm's latest SoC, at least 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage with an option for expansion via the microSD card slot.
Interestingly, the report also mentioned that the HTC One M9 would come with a Windows 10 version, the latest operating system from Microsoft that will aim to unite multiple platforms.
Last year, the Taiwanese phone manufacturer and the Redmond giant worked to bring an HTC One M8 Windows phone to WP 8.1 fans. It arrived with all the specs of the original M8, but it ran Windows Phone 8.1, which includes better notification features, an Action Center, and the platform's beloved voice assistant, Cortana.
