A month before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, a new report claims that the upcoming HTC One M9 will be announced sooner than most people expected.
According to a report by Bloomberg, a report in Taiwan allegedly confirms that the Taiwanese manufacturer will launch its next generation flagship smartphone in March. With that timetable, the company should make the One M9 available during the MWC event which would also feature other world-class brands such as Samsung, Huawei and Sony.
In the report, the new high-end HTC smartphone is rumored to boast a 20MP primary camera, which would be the highest resolution camera the company will include in its smartphones to date. In front of the device is its UltraPixel sensors, which would probably pack 4MP in resolution.
The Android device will also run on the latest Snapdragon 810 chipset from renowned chipmaker Qualcomm, which would boast eight cores of processing power.
Other specs that will reportedly make their way to the new HTC flagship include Dolby Audio technology support for superb stereo sound, as well as the usual gold, silver/gray and black color options.
In 2014, Bloomberg reported that HTC continued its struggle against other Android competitors in the market, which include Samsung, LG and some emerging Chinese brands such as Huawei and Xiaomi. Experts blamed this failure to the overrated specs of the One M8, which include the 4MP UltraPixel cameras.
In fact, some previous reports from GSM Arena pointed out that the company's midrange Desire lineup actually fared better than its flagship.
However, as the year ended, the Taiwan-based company made a surprising rise in sales, which is probably brought by the announcement of its EYE smartphones (selfie phones), and the HTC Nexus 9 tablet.
Aside from the One M9, HTC will also reportedly unveil its first smartwatch at the MWC, which should complete the cast for smartwatch competition. Other brands which already launched their own wearable devices include Samsung, LG, Sony, and Motorola.
