HTC One M9 Specs: First 1080p Wallpaper for New Device Leaked!

Several weeks before the Mobile World Congress finally kicks off, another report claims new features for the HTC One M9.

According to a report byPhone Arena, a new wallpaper that is specially designed for the upcoming Android flagship has just appeared online. In the report, the image is 2160 x 1920 in resolution, but before hoping it will be a 2k screen, the image will support homescreen scrolling.

That means the wallpaper will only display 1920 x 1080 pixels at any given time in portrait mode.

For the past several months, the upcoming HTC flagship has been dubbed HTC Hima, and it should be among the finest smartphones to be released this year. While some critics are still not expecting the Taiwan-based manufacturer to go all out in terms of specs, some new features have since been rumored.

In a separate report by Bloomberg, the device will boast a high-end 20-megapixel camera as its primary shooter. If this rumor is accurate, then the One M9 will be HTC's first smartphone to pack a camera beyond 13 megapixels.

Last year, while its Android competitors have eclipsed the 16MP sensor, HTC has stuck with its 4MP UltraPixels, and more recently to a more conventional 13MP camera. Prior to the One M7, HTC is considered as among the top phone makers when it comes to photography, but its three One M flagships have failed in keeping that standing.

According to the report, the new HTC One M9 would be unveiled at the MWC event in Barcelona on March 1, as mentioned in the company's teaser images and invitations.

Some of the handset's rumored specs include a Snapdragon 810 chipset from Qualcomm, 3GB of RAM, an octa-core CPU, 32GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot. Apart from the usual specs, the One M9 will stay with its 5-inch display and a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, probably to keep power usage in check.

This previous week, several leaked cases have made the rounds online, allegedly giving away the dimensions of the HTC flagship. Unfortunately, Android and HTC fans may just have to wait until March in order to find out which of these rumors are true, and which are made up.

At the MWC, the One M9 is expected to be pitted against the Samsung Galaxy S6, which is also getting a lot of news updates daily. Other handsets that will make their debut include the Xperia Z4 from Sony and handsets from LG and Huawei.
