Pastor Hyeon Soo Lim of Light Presbyterian Church was confirmed to have been detained in North Korea in early March.
A prayer meeting on behalf of Reverend Hyeon Soo Lim, the Korean Canadian senior pastor of Light Presbyterian Church who has been detained in North Korea, will be taking place at Korea Campus Crusade (KCCC)'s Los Angeles office on July 12 at 5 P.M.
KCCC hosted a prayer meeting for Lim previously in mid-April, which was an intimate gathering of some 30 people part of the KCCC alumni organization, and friends of Reverend Lim.
This upcoming prayer meeting, however, is endorsed by several other Korean organizations including Holy City Movement and New Life Mission, and even has the title, "A Prayer Meeting of the Southern California Regional Churches and Organizations for Reverend Lim's Release."
Hun Young Jo, a friend of Lim and the lead pastor of Light Presbyterian Church in Southern California, said during the April prayer meeting that if Lim's detainment continues long-term, "We will officially begin an international movement to secure his release."
A draft of a petition letter to send to the United Nations on behalf of Lim is expected to be presented at the end of the prayer meeting.
The upcoming Los Angeles prayer meeting follows a series of prayer meetings that have taken place in various regions. Prayer meetings took place in Toronto, Montreal, New York, and Philadelphia on June 28, and in Atlanta on June 29.
"We can't fully understand at this moment what God's will is, but we have great expectations as we look toward the One who will definitely work through our pastor and o ur church," said Reverend Jason Noh, who currently leads Light Presbyterian Church in Lim's absence.
"We believe that as we continue to gather our hearts and hold on in prayer, we will soon experience amazing things and see God's will revealed," Noh added.
Lim has visited North Korea more than 100 times and had actively served the North Korean people through various humanitarian efforts. However, Lim was never heard from after his last visit into the country in late January, and Lim's family was informed of his detainment in March.
