Apple iPhone 6 Plus vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Comparison: Battle Of The Phablets

Two of today's biggest and most powerful smartphones are the iPhone 6 Plus from Apple, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. With announcement dates that are only weeks apart, these two devices were indeed made for each other.

But how does each phone stack up against the other?

A report from The Fuse Joplin made some quick comparisons between the two phablets.

Display

The Galaxy Note 4 from Samsung boasts a 5.7-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution. On the other hand, the Apple iPhone 6 Plus gets 5.5 inches of screen real estate - the largest in any Apple phone to date. The iPhone has the trademark Retina display, though it only managed Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080), making it look inferior compared to the Android phablet.

Processor

The Samsung flagship phablet runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805, which is the fastest chip available during the device's development. It boasts a quad-core CPU that is clocked at 2.7GHz, and paired with 3GB of RAM for superior multi-tasking performance.

On the other hand, the iPhone 6 Plus gets its own next-generation A8 chipset, which is also embedded in the new iPad Air 2 tablet. Unfortunately, the Apple smartphone only gets 1GB of RAM, which was simply unacceptable for Android fans who may be thinking of making the switch to iOS.

Build and Design

Both devices were built with the consumer in mind. For Apple fans, the Cupertino manufacturer finally heard their cry for a bigger screen, a slimmer profile and the same Touch ID fingerprint sensor home button that made the iPhone 5s relevant. However, several leaked videos surfaced by the end of the year, claiming that the iPhone can easily be bent. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 4 is Samsung's first phablet to get a metal frame, following the company's decision to include it in the Galaxy Alpha smartphone.

Camera

The Galaxy Note 4 features a 16MP primary shooter at the back, compared to the iPhone 6 Plus's camera. Apple decided to stick to its 8MP camera and just made the necessary adjustments to improve peformance. Overall, the camera department is still a win for the Samsung device.

Conclusion

The Apple iPhone 6 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 are definitely among the best smartphones of 2014, yet the Galaxy phone was the slightly better device based on specs. Still, regardless of the specs and features, it all boils down to which manufacturer has more consumers and fans. Samsung may sell more Galaxy Note 4 phones than Apple does for the iPhone 6 Plus, but overall revenue advantage still belongs to the Cupertino manufacturer due to the price tag for each iPhone.
