Even with the gorgeous design and powerful specs of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, both devices still pack 1GB of RAM. However, a new report claims that the next-gen iPhone 6s could finally include a 2GB RAM for a much better performance.
According to a report by GSM Arena, the upcoming Apple smartphone could be the first of its kind - boasting 2GB of RAM instead of the 1GB RAM that Apple has been using for more than a couple of years now.
In the report, the rumor allegedly came from a "person familiar with Apple's future product plans, who has provided reliable information in the past". Whether this is an analyst or not, it is still unclear.
However, the rumor is definitely something to cheer about. The last time the Cupertino manufacturer has upgraded its RAM for its well-loved smartphone was during its iPhone 5 release in 2012.
The iPad 3 only had 1GB of RAM but it was upgraded to 2GB with the iPad Air 2. Unfortunately, the iPad mini still has 1GB of RAM.
In addition to the alleged RAM upgrade for the iPhone 6s, and possibly the iPhone 6s Plus, the report also mentioned that the device may be getting an Apple SIM.
The Apple SIM is definitely something new for the Cupertino-based company, but this might be another move to gain full control of its mobile devices. While local carriers would most likely refuse to include Apple SIMs in the iPhones they issue, devices purchased directly from Apple may come with these SIMs.
Another upcoming device that is awaited by Apple fans is the iPad Pro. While there are rumors pointing to a release earlier this year, the newest update claims that production for the iPad's displays will begin as late as September this year.
