Model Janice Dickinson was 28 years old when she was allegedly raped by comedian Bill Cosby. Dickinson, a world famous and successful supermodel who graced the covers of fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Marie Claire was not exempt from his inhumane acts. She was featured on the cover of New York Magazine with 34 other women victimized by Cosby on Monday, July 27.
"I held this inside of my soul for years and years and years. I have been brutally and catastrophically, traumatically altered forever," said Dickinson to New York Magazine.
Dickinson told her story of what happened in Lake Tahoe in 1982. Cosby had invited her over for dinner and to talk about an acting opportunity. She thought that she could possibly be on his popular sitcom series, "The Cosby Show.' He gave her a pill with wine. She woke up the next morning knowing that Cosby had raped her.
She told her story to Entertainment Tonight (ET) in Nov. 2014. When the article was published, Cosby's lawyer Marty Singer called her a liar. He said that her 2014 claim contradicted the account she gave in her 2002 autobiography entitled, No Lifeguard on Duty: The Accidental Life of the World's First Supermodel.
"I was drugged and raped - drugged and raped - by Bill Cosby," said Dickinson to Entertainment Tonight. "And the fact that he and his spokespeople have called me a liar - referring to remarks that I've made - it's just not correct. I want to fight this. I'm not being paid anything monetarily to do this, it's just the right thing to do."
Dickinson, who modeled for fashion designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Versace, Christian Dior, and Balmain hid her story for 32 years. She said that "stuffing feelings of rape" drove her to hurt herself. She said that while she was once afraid and had nightmares, she now wants justice and vindication.
"I would love for justice to be served and his mass rapist be put in jail, and never be allowed to do this to another woman," said 60-year-old Dickinson in an interview with Inside Out.
