When season five of "Once Upon a Time" returns, there will be a new villain in town - Jennifer Morrison's character Emma Swan, who has sacrificed herself and become The Dark One.

Morrison is really excited to jump ship, since her character has been one of the good guys since season one. As the new villain, she will get to explore different avenues and find new ways to interact with other characters.

"I was really excited," Morrison told Entertainment Tonight of her character's transition. "It's obviously a really fun challenge to have as an actor to go from playing something entirely different, to something entirely different, so I was really excited to take on that challenge."

"Also it's a little bit terrifying," she added. "It's a brand new thing! We're creating a villain that has never existed before, so it's been an interesting collaborative adventure between creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and me, and Eduardo Castrothe costume designer. It's all these crazy moving pieces, but it's been really exciting and hopefully it all comes together."

However, the one thing that has gotten fans concerned is how being the Dark Swan will affect Emma's blossoming relationship with Colin O'Donoghue's character Captain Hook, especially since the two have just said their "I love you's" last season.

"Well, he was once a villain," Morrison teasingly said. "Maybe I'll just, you know, suck him into the darkness with me!"

For his part, O'Donoghue believes that love will prevail and their relationship might just help pull Emma back to the light. "Hook loves Emma and he, much like the Charmings, is going to do whatever it takes to try and bring the savior Emma back because that's who he fell in love with," he explained.

The actor added that Captain Hook and Swan's relationship now will share the same dynamic as that of Rumple and Belle.

"Similar to Belle and Rumple, Hook can still see the person that he loves in that darkness," he said. "Whether or not he's able to stop himself from going dark again is another question because he's been there before."

It won't be just Hook who will try to bring Emma back to the light though, since her parents Snow and Charming are going to do everything they can to make sure that their daughter is safe.

"Once Upon a Time" will return to ABC on September 27, Sunday.
