After scoring in double figures in his last four games, Charlotte Hornets guard Jeremy Lin failed to make an impact during their 95-92 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday at Pepsi Center.
Lin, who is playing his first season in a Hornets uniform, finished with just two points after shooting 0-for-9 from the field, including a 0-for-5 clip from beyond the arc in 24 minutes of playing time.
Lin, who was tagged by team owner Michael Jordan as their most important acquisition during the offseason, averaged 17.3 points on 48.1 percent shooting from the field in their last four games.
Before going scoreless against the Nuggets, Lin erupted for 26 points on 9-for-16 shooting with three three-pointers to go along with four rebounds and four assists during their 97-83 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.
The former Harvard University standout actually played with a hurting ankle on Sunday and was actually listed as questionable heading into Sunday's match, CBS Sports reported.
Nicolas Batum, who also returned from a toe injury that forced him to miss their last four games, also failed to get into his rhythm, as he finished with just nine points on 3-for-8 shooting.
"I could do better than that," said Batum, who is averaging 16.0 points on top of 6.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists this season -- his first in Charlotte after spending his first seven seasons in the league in Portland.
Cody Zeller and Jeremy Lamb paced the Hornets with 15 points apiece. Frank Kaminsky finished with 14 points and five rebounds, while Marvin Williams and Kemba Walker added 11 points each.
As a team, the Hornets shot just 36.1 percent from the field, including a measly 12-for-36 clip from beyond the arc. But for Zeller, their defense hurt their chances of ending their six-game losing skid.
"We've just got to get back on track, start playing defense," Zeller told reporters. "Get back to what we were doing at the beginning of the season when we were winning."
Danilo Gallinari torched the Hornets with 27 points and six rebounds, Gary Harris added 12 points, while Emmanuel Mudiay ended up with 11 points on top of six assists and four rebounds in his return from ankle injury.
