Jeremy Lin took a swipe at Kobe Bryant after the Los Angeles Lakers suffered their ninth loss in 10 games this season, which led to their worst start in franchise history.
The Lakers are at the cellar of the Western Conference standings, and Lin believes that they are not playing as a team, which is the main reason why they are off to a disappointing start this year.
"The game of basketball is, we've got to do it together," Lin told ESPN. "It can't be, if I go into a game concerned about myself, then in some ways that's detrimental to the team."
While Lin did not name names, most analysts are convinced that the 26-year-old point guard is referring to Bryant. The 36-year-old superstar is averaging 27.3 points, but has attempted 24.4 shots per game on just 37.7 percent shooting from the field.
Lin, who is averaging 11.7 points to go along with 4.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game this season, added that they should address several issues if they want to turn the tables around in their next several games.
"There's so many things wrong right now," Lin added. "At the top of the list, I would say communication, trust and effort."
Carlos Boozer also echoed Lin's statement, saying that they need to find a balance instead of relying too much on Bryant on the offensive end of the floor.
"A lot of times we run a set, but Kobe is extremely aggressive," Boozer said. "And then we try to hit the glass, get it off the glass. We've got to find a balance. It can't be lopsided. We've got to find a balance."
Former Lakers forward Robert Horry agreed with Lin and Boozer. He said that he understands Bryant's desire to lead his team to a victory, but he pointed out that the 16-time All-Star should get his teammates involved in order to win ballgames this season.
"Right now, there is no flow with this team," Horry said. "It's Kobe this, Kobe that, and you can see the frustration in the other guys. Jeremy Lin stated it. Boozer stated it in the interviews that there's some lack of trust going on and they want to be more involved in the team effort to win ballgames."
