Unleashing its fury in the domestic box office, "Jurassic World' has just smashed records as it garners the best opening weekend after pulling $208.8 million and triumphing over 2012's "The Avengers', which grossed $207.4 million.
Acknowledging the wrath of the newest dino installment, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took to social media and tweeted a congratulatory message to the "Jurassic World' filmmakers and his "Guardians of the Galaxy' star Chris Pratt.
Created by Marvel conceptual designer Andy Park, the artwork shared by Feige showed Pratt riding a rex and towering over the Avengers.
Showing in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters, "Jurassic World' follows a terrifying sci-fi adventure set more than two decades after the events that took place in Steven Spielberg's original Michael Crichton adaptation, "Jurassic Park', in 1993.
Aside from Pratt, other cast members include Bryce Dallas Howard ("Spider-Man 3'), Judy Greer ("Tomorrowland'), Jake Johnson ("New Girl'), Omar Sy ("X-Men: Days of Future Past'), Irrfan han ("Life of Pi') and Ty Simpkins ("Insidious'), to name a few.
Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two movies in the franchise, signed on to "Jurassic World' as executive producer.
After "Avengers: Age of Ultron' director Joss Whedon made the headlines for his "sexist' comments on Howard's character, director Colin Trevorrow came forward to explain how the story revolves around the lead female character.
Howard herself believes her character to be "incredibly accomplished, but also flawed and myopic, and who reconnects with her humanity" following the escape of the hybrid dino Indominus Rex and the chaos that followed.
"The tricky thing with movies is, you release these little bits without the larger context. And that scene only shows my character at the beginning of her journey," Ron Howard's daughter further said, referring to the short clip from which Whedon based his comments.
Last year, Trevorrow also teased about possible "Jurassic World' sequels, stating: "We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story."
True enough, Pratt confirmed that he has already signed on for a "Jurassic World' sequel and will reprise his role of Velociraptor trainer Owen Grady. He also took to social media and posted a public message, thanking fans and viewers all over the world for their support.
"It feels so wonderful to hear the overwhelmingly positive response. We are incredibly blessed and overcome with joy at the outcome of the movie and couldn't be more appreciative for the amazing support you've shown so far," the 35-year-old actor wrote.
