Jurassic World Raptors Get Surprisingly Adorable Names

Jurassic World

The upcoming Jurassic World film starring actor Chris Pratt is promising to showcase a lot of terrifying new dinosaurs, with the already infamous Indominux Rex leading the group.

And while the Raptors are considered as some of the most fearsome dinosaurs in Jurassic World, these lithe and brutal creatures have actually been given not-so-fearsome names for the big screen.

According to GameNGuide, the Raptors found in the park have been given names such as Charlie, Blue, Delta, and Echo.

Pratt's character seems to have an affinity with the Raptors in the new film. Instead of tearing him to pieces, the dinosaurs actually listen to his character, and even appear to adore him! It seems impossible for the Raptors to be domesticated by anybody, but not according to the novel Jurassic Park written by Michael Crichton.

In an excerpt shared by Slash Film, one of Hammond Lab's geniuses Dr. Wu is talking to his boss in scientifically making the dinosaurs "better."

"The dinosaurs we have now are real, but in certain ways they are unsatisfactory. Unconvincing. I could make them better," Wu said.

He slammed that the dinosaurs move too fast and noted that people are not used to seeing large animals that are so quick on their feet. "I'm afraid visitors will think the dinosaurs look speeded up, like film running too fast," he said, as he planned to "breed slower, more domesticated dinosaurs."

Wu believes that people will love to have their expectations met when it comes to dinosaurs. He said, "I'm just saying, why stop there? Why not push ahead to make exactly the kind of dinosaur that we'd like to see? One that is more acceptable to visitors, and one that is easier for us to handle? A slower, more docile version for our park."

Wu's character, played by B.D. Wong, is set to appear again in Jurassic World. Other new dinosaurs the Hammond Lab cooked up for the park visitors include the moderately-spined lizard Metriacanthosaurus, the flat-headed duck-billed Edmontosaurus, the swift flying Dimorphodon, crocodile-like Baryonyx, the biggest flying reptile the Pteranodon, the "crocodile mimic" dinosaur Suchomimus, and the smallest known dinosaur in the park Microceratus.

Jurassic World will premiere in cinemas on June 12, 2015. Even though it has not been released yet, producers seem very confident with director Colin Trevorrow's creation that a sequel is already in the works, and the Jurassic World franchise is expected to be a trilogy.
