If there's one thing that caught moviegoers off guard in Matthew Vaughn's film "Kingsman: The Secret Service," it would definitely have to be the sudden death of Colin Firth's character Agent Gallahad.
His surprise death was justified in the end, but Agent Gallahad was such an impactful and pivotal character that many want him back in the sequel.
It seems pretty impossible to bring anyone back to life after he was shot point blank in the head by the villain named Valentine, but comic genius Mark Miller, who created the secret service agents and their world is already figuring out how to make it possible.
"That's the conversation everyone's having right now, because part of what made that movie work is Colin. Colin's fantastic, it was a two-hander, that film. You also want to have the integrity of the story, so if you are bringing him back, it has to make sense. That's where it is at the moment. Beats of the story have been done," he said in an interview with IGN. "(Screenplay co-writers) Matthew (Vaughn) and Jane (Goldman) are working on it at the moment. Some things have to be worked out, some decisions have still to be made and everything, so it's all fairly amorphous, but all going well."
Lead star Taron Egerton, who plays Agent Gallahad's trainee Gary "Eggsy" Unwin would also love to see Firth back in the sequel, even though he knows that it would be somewhat difficult to incorporate Agent Gallahad back into the story.
"Well, I mean, I think he's pretty dead. Shot in the head. But, I mean, I still have dreams that... I always thought it would be lovely to see Eggsy and Harry reunited," Egerton said in an interview with Cinema Blend. "I have this, you know, I have my own fantasies about that. But I haven't heard anything to suggest that he will be coming back. Unless they build a robot version of him, or he has an evil twin or something."
"A lot of people are very upset that Colin might not be in the sequel but I'm coming up with ideas at the moment. If people buy tickets in America, I've got a feeling we'll figure out a way for having Colin back," he added.
It was Galahad who transformed Eggsy's life from a troubled teen and into a self-assured secret agent. Not only did Galahad help him find a respectable job, but he also served as his father figure.
