LG G4 S Rumors & Specs: Mid-Range Variant of G4 will Sport 5.2-Inch Display with 1080p Resolution

LG G4

New details about another variant of LG's current flagship handset, the G4, have leaked online.

According to sources, the new model is called the G4 S and will serve as a mid-range counterpart of the South Korean company's brand-carrier handset.

Based on the images and information leaked by Russian tech site Hi-tech.mail.ru, the G4 S will sport a smaller display than the G4 at 5.2 inches and will carry a resolution setting of 1920x1080 pixels, Android Central reported.

In addition, the upcoming handset is expected to come with an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and laser autofocus features. It will be powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core processor.

Details of the device's front camera and chipset model, however, were not mentioned in the leak.

The G4 S, which is expected to be unveiled by LG during the second half of this month, will be the latest variant of the G4.

In June of this year, the company released the G4C which features a smaller display size than the upcoming G4 S. It has a 5-inch display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels.

Earlier this week, benchmark site GFXBench revealed details of another mysterious LG device with model number LG H959. At first, it was believed to be the G4 S. However, the specs listed by GFXBench and the Russian tech site do not match.

In the benchmark database, the device has a 5.5-inch screen with 1080x1920p resolution. It is equipped with Qualcomm's octa-core 1.9GHz Snapdragon 810 chipset with the Adreno 430 GPU. The device also has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage.

Due to the major differences in terms of features, it's safe to assume that the LG H959 is not the LG G4 S. Phone Arena speculated that it might be the LG G Flex 2. However, the site noted that this handset model packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

LG is yet to make an official announcement to clarify the leaks concerning its upcoming devices.
