LG has recently introduced its latest line of midrange smartphones that will be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress next month.
Despite demands for the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S6 or the positive reviews associated with the pricey iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus from Apple, LG aims to appeal to a market where customers do not seek posh features and exclusive offerings.
"LG's new midrange collection continues our legacy of offering amazing smartphones at reasonable prices," LG president and CEO Juno Cho shared in an official statement. "For millions of consumers around the world, the deciding factor on which smartphone to buy isn't how fast or how big it is but how balanced it is."
Therefore, the company strives to emphasize affordable devices that are of good quality as opposed to additional expensive features such as HD displays, curved metal edges and fingerprint sensors.
"With our new midrange smartphones, more and more customers will be looking to LG for their next handset," Cho said.
Although LG has not yet specified the prices of its upcoming phones, it was revealed that the new LG Magna, LG Spirit, LG Leon and LG Joy will all be budget-friendly. Despite not being a high-end device, these smartphones focus on finding a balance between design, performance and price.
According to tech site PC Mag, these mobile devices support LTE connectivity and comes with a metallic back cover to give its users a premium feel. Each of these phones will also be made available in their 3G versions, which sport a patterned plastic back cover to differentiate them from their 4G variants.
The Magna, Spirit and Leon are powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and come with a single-layer in-touch display to fit the device's thin profiles. At 9.9 mm thick, the Spirit is the thinnest of the four smartphones.
An 8-megapixel rear-facing camera is incorporated into the LTE versions of Magna, Spirit and Leon while a 5-megapixel camera is featured in the 3G versions of the Spirit and Leon. The entry-level Joy features a 5-megapixel camera and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core chip.
For their front snappers, the Magna comes with a 5-megapixel camera, the Spirit has a 1-megapixel shooter, and the Leon and Joy will both have a VGA front camera.
For battery life, the Magna is expected to come with a 2,540 mAh battery, which is expected to be relatively better than the Nexus 5. The Spirit features a 2,100 mAh battery, while the Leon and Joy come with a 1,900 mAh battery.
All four of these LG smartphones are expected to be integrated with the latest Android Lollipop, although the Joy 3G version will come with Android KitKat out of the box. Magna, Spirit, and Leon will be made available with 8 GB of storage and 1 GB of RAM. For Joy, it will either have 8 GB or 4 GB of storage with 1 GB or 512 MB of RAM, respectively.
The smartphones will still have features that have been included in LG's high-end devices. such as having speedy access to calls and messages without the need to unlock the screen.
